LORD'S CRICKET GROUND 

Directions

Lord's is located in St John's Wood - part of the London borough of Westminster. The ground is currently outside the Central London Congestion Zone. From north: from M1, junction 1, follow signs to A5 (Edgware Road), continue on this road towards London, at traffic lights junction with A5205 turn left into St John's Wood Road. From south: from M23/M25 junction 7/8 continue north on A23 into London to junction with A203 (Stockwell Road), follow signs to Vauxhall Bridge, cross the Bridge and take A202 (Vauxhall Bridge Road) to Victoria Station, bear right on to Wilton Road, follow signs to Hyde Park Corner (A302) (Grosvenor Place), continue up Park Lane to Marble Arch, then take Edgware Road (A5) to St John's Wood, at traffic lights, junction with A5205 turn right into St John's Wood Road. From east: from M25 junction 27 continue south on M11 to junction 4 (A406) (North Circular Road), continue west on A406 to Brent Cross, junction with A41 (Hendon Way), continue on A41 to Wellington Road. From west: from M4 at Chiswick flyover, turn left on to A406 (Gunnersbury Avenue), at traffic lights turn right on to A4000 (Gunnersbury Lane), continue on A4000 to junction with A40 (Western Avenue), turn right and continue on A40 (Westway) on to A40(M), continue on to Marylebone Road, turn left on to B507 (Lisson Grove), turn right on to A5205 (St John's Wood Road). From M40: from M40 continue on A40 (Western Avenue) then as for M4.  The Ground has good public transport links. For example, several Underground stations are within walking distance of Lord's; they include nearest tube: St John's Wood (Jubilee Line), Warwick Avenue (Bakerloo Line) and Baker Street (Bakerloo, Circle, Jubilee, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines). Lord's is reasonably close to two mainline rail stations, Marylebone and Paddington, too. Other London rail terminals, including Euston, King's Cross and Victoria, can also be reached comparatively easily, particularly by Tube. Several London Underground stations are within walking distance of Lord's; St John's Wood (Jubilee Line), Warwick Avenue (Bakerloo Line) and Baker Street (Bakerloo, Circle, Jubilee, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines). Route 13 (Trafalgar Square to Golders Green). Local stops: Wellington Road and Park Road. Route 82 (Victoria to North Finchley). Local stops: Wellington Road and Park Road. Route 113 (Oxford Circus to Edgware). Local stops: Wellington Road and Park Road. Route 139 (Waterloo to West Hampstead). Local stops: Grove End Road. Ground Facilities

 

Parking arrangements – proximity to box, need to pre-arrange (if so, with whom), No parking on major match days, limited within the ground (on non-major match-days – call to Clare Skinner in advance on 0207-616-8522. The press box is a Futuristic design with plenty of space. More than adequate facilities with 118 desks each with power point and facility for phone line installation. Fax and photocopier also available. Almost perfect view point from high up at the nursery end of the ground, with tv monitors for replays on major match days. Also ambient sound technology currently being installed to pick up sounds in the middle not just in the stands. Plentiful supply of padded chairs, although be careful since they are all on wheels and are easily moved. Separate Photographers room. Telecom arrangements in box BT can install line or you may rent one from MCC with 10 days notice given. Power arrangements in box - Standard plug socket located under each work station. Heat/cold/light/environmental - Fully air conditioned, vents on each work station. Perennial problems - The sun’s glare through the glass during late afternoons – bring your sunglasses. Carluccios – 60 St. Johns Wood high St.0207-449-0404, Italian restaurant practically opposite the North Gate. Directions

M25 (J16), take the A40 (towards London), at the Swakeleys roundabout branch left (signposted Uxbridge) and at the next roundabout take the 3rd exit on to the B467. At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Park Road - B483. The ground is opposite Uxbridge Common, access via Gatting Way. Uxbridge London Underground Station (Metropolitan Line) 1 mile 0845 330 9875. The U1 Bus from West Ruislip/Uxbridge passes by the ground, with Routes U2, U9, U10 stopping nearby.

 

 

 

 

Ground Facilities

 

Located off Gatting Way, look out for Brearley Way!, the club has been host to Middlesex CCC on many occasions when the team are not playing at Lord’s since 1980. In 2005 the ground will host Kent in a Twenty20 zonal match.

From north: from M1 junction 1 at Brent Cross take A406 west (North Circular Road), continue on A406 to Chiswick Flyover roundabout, take fourth exit on to Chiswick High Road (A205), follow this road into Kew Bridge Road (A315), at Kew Green take right fork into Kew Road (A307), Old Deer Park is on the right hand side. From south: from end of M3 continue on A316 through Twickenham (Chertsey Road), cross Twickenham Bridge and at traffic lights take left turn on to Kew Road (A307), Old Deer Park is on the left hand side. From east: from Hammersmith Flyover (A4) continue on Great West Road to Hogarth Roundabout, take first exit (A316) (Burlington Lane), continue on A316 to Richmond Circus junction, follow signs to A307 (Kew Road), Old Deer Park is on the left hand side. From west: from M4 junction 2, follow A4 (Great West Road) to Chiswick Flyover roundabout, then as for north.  Press Box in tent close to Pavilion. Ground is adjoining London Welsh Rugby Football Club. Close to Kew Gardens and a short walk from Central Richmond and numerous local pubs and a selection of good restaurants.

Tea/coffee available throughout the day, fully catered lunch and tea at all matches free of charge.  Water dispenser. Local boozers for lunch time relief The Lord’s Tavern Bar and Brasserie next to the Grace Gates – however this will not be open on major match days from July onwards after play has ended due to the request of local residents.
